Can You Tell If Graphic Leggings Are See-Through from a Photo?

A print or studio image cannot establish opacity. Separate the listed fabric details from coverage claims, then use a practical try-on inspection.

A graphic print does not establish that leggings are opaque in every position or light. Neither of the featured HDE descriptions provides an opacity-test result. Check the specific pair on your body, in the movements and lighting relevant to how you plan to wear it.

A studio photograph answers some questions very well: the print, the overall shape and the visible waistband. It cannot reproduce every combination of garment size, stretch, underlayer and lighting. Here is a practical inspection you can use without assuming either that a dark print is opaque or that a light stripe must be sheer.

Before ordering: separate fabric facts from performance claims

The Black and White Striped Leggings are described as a poly-spandex blend with an elastic waist and a glistening sheen. Those three details describe composition, waist construction and appearance. None supplies a measured opacity rating.

The studio image shows the print and waistband. It is not an opacity test under changing light or movement.

The Solar System Graphic Print Legging Tights also list a poly-spandex blend, an elastic hip-level waist and a sheen. Their dark background does not turn the product image into a coverage guarantee. Likewise, the listing’s references to exercise do not document a squat-proof test.

During try-on: change one condition at a time

  1. Start with fit. Select using the exact style’s chart. Put the leggings on without deliberately pulling them higher or tighter than you intend to wear them. Notice whether the waistband and seams sit comfortably.
  2. Use your planned underlayer. Compare the pair with what you expect to wear underneath. If you are uncomfortable with the result, try another underlayer you already own before deciding whether this garment suits the outfit.
  3. Check ordinary movement. Stand, sit and bend as your intended activity requires. Look at the areas where the fabric stretches most, rather than judging only the front while standing still.
  4. Check more than one light. Look in normal indoor light and daylight, using a mirror or help from someone you trust. A result in one position and one room only describes that particular check.

This is a personal try-on routine, not a laboratory method or an assurance about every future situation. If the coverage is not what you want, a longer top may suit your styling preference, or a different garment may be the better choice. Sizing up solely to change coverage can create a different fit problem.

Keep the decision connected to your actual plans

For an outfit built around a long shirt, you may want different coverage than for leggings worn with a cropped top. Decide what feels comfortable to you rather than treating a single online label as the whole answer. Our stripes-and-planets print study covers the visual styling choice separately.

Before washing or altering an item you might return, read the return conditions. Follow the received garment’s care label for a pair you keep. The Solar System listing specifies cold machine washing, low tumble-dryer heat and no ironing; that instruction should not be assumed to apply to every item in the Leggings collection.

Facts checked September 17, 2026, US Eastern time against the two linked ShopHDE listings. No opacity, compression or athletic-performance test was supplied in those descriptions. Photos are actual catalog images; the inspection steps are practical shopping guidance, not a report of hands-on testing.
