What the UPF number describes
UPF describes how much ultraviolet radiation passes through a fabric. The Skin Cancer Foundation’s clothing guide explains that UPF 50 fabric allows about one-fiftieth of UV radiation through. Coverage, fit and the condition of the fabric also matter. Plan sun protection for uncovered skin rather than treating a cover-up as complete protection.
Compare the shape before the print
A short kaftan and a long kaftan offer different hem lengths. A wrap has different openings and fastening choices. Compare the neckline, sleeves and movement of the actual garment you are considering.

Read the size range carefully
An oversized cut is still a specific garment with specific dimensions. Look at its chart, not just “one size” or a broad size range in the description. Sleeve and hem coverage can look different on different bodies.
